Drowned begonia

B3B3 Posts: 27,505

I have a trailing begonia in a largish container with some other plants.

The begonia went floppy and I realised it was too wet so I've tipped as much of the excess water out as I can.

Should I put it in sun or shade to recover or is it a lost cause?

Other plants are ok and must've been above the water table

I don't grow them B3, but I'd think if you repot them (correctly image) and put them somewhere in a spot with some shade, you might get away with it.

As with most plants, it'll depend how long they've been waterlogged. Worth a try if you like them image

I've never grown them before and, tbh, I'm not over-keenimage

I don't want to disturb the other plants.

I'll leave it in the shade for a while as you suggest.

    Thanks Fg.

If the corms look manky, they've probably rotted, but if you don't want to take everything out to check them, put them somewhere that they can dry out a bit, and see how it goes.

You'll need to watch your other plants though, if there aren't any holes in the container. It would be worth shifting them into another pot. If you get one the same size and just carefully tip the whole thing out and into the other one, there shouldn't be a problem.

I'll keep an eye on it. No more water!
