Coastal Plant identification

I live opposite an area adjacent to the Durham coast and would welcomeimageimageassistance with identification. Part of the area in front of me has been allowed to colonize naturally but part has been somewhat crowded out as,hopefully, the second image will show.  They appear to get to about .75-.9 of a metre high before throwing some form of seed head
