Caterpillars on Skimmia
I've noticed that some of the leaves on my Skimmia Rubella have stuck together, some with damage or holes and a soft, white web-like material. When I pulled the leaves apart, I found that there were small green caterpillars inside. I've not had much luck identifying the problem through an internet search - can anyone suggest what this might be, how critical it is and what I can do to tackle it? Thanks!

Attempting to add some photographs...

It's hard to tell without some photos, but my guess is probably leaf minor caterpillars, moth caterpillars. If the areas affected are small, just either cut off areas or prise them out. You might want to look at the growing areas to see what is happening. Careful scraping off the top layer of your soil is a good idea, and regular removal of dropped leaves may help to stem the repeat of this, and stop it spreading.
Thanks Borderline - not sure why I couldn't add the photos but it seems I caught it in good time and your tips did the trick. Many thanks!
I'm glad it's sorted. I had it this year quite badly and it was on many of my plants. If it returns, make sure the blades are cleaned thoroughly after any pruning/cutting. I'm not sure how the photo facility works either, but I notice many other members talking about reducing size of photo?
