Why are Hollyhock seeds multicoloured?

CraighBCraighB Posts: 758

Hi guys,

Id like to buy some hollyhock seeds but I am looking online and all I can find is a pack of mixed colours?

Is there any reason I cant buy just a pack of one colour?

Thanks

Craigh :)

Thompson and Morgan sell Peaches n dreams which are peach doubles.  Sown early say February , they flower the same year and avoid rust.

There is also a pink one called fiesta time

Chiltern seeds have a red double, a white double, and blackcurrant swirl as single colours.

one of the reasons for the mixes is that unless a single colour is grown in isolation you can't guarantee the colour of the offspring. Bees etc mix up all the pollen.

Nicky Seeds and Suttons have some single colour hollyhocks.
