When my friend and I were walking her dogs this evening, I told her about the "mystery" grass in my garden.
At the "doggy place", where the dogs are left off the leash whilst their owners have a chin-wag, she mentioned the grass to the small crowd the. One of them offered to take a look, so he walked to my house with us, took a look and pronounced it, deschampsia cespitosa.
He also told me that my "pony tail" grass is stipa tenuissima. Unfortunately, he wasn't sure about the third one, which isn't flowering yet. But you know, patience is a virtue!
I know it's very difficult to be certain when you're looking at photographs. Looking at those on the web, I feel that some of them aren't really the same but he said he has the same grass himself, so I'm sure he wasn't making a mistake when actually looking at it "in the flesh".
That's great you found it. Must admit, I'm very surprised it's Deschampsia cespitosa. The leaves looked more thicker. I have grown this in the past and unfortunately for me, it died on me after a year! But, I know I didn't take enough care on it. I'm glad it's finally settled for you.

Hi Borderline, they're certainly difficult to photograph and..unstable of hue!
Thank you for all your help.
Paul, SO glad to hear it!
Why the "unhappy face" though, Paul?
Probably nervous anticipation of your next plant ID
(is that better) ?
The face, much better; as for the nervousness, nah, you aren't the nervous kind!
Paul and Borderline, I'VE GOT IT!

Thank you, again, for all your help.
Well done, Artemis! How, on earth, did you manage it?
Quite by accident, Danae.
