Have I killed my Aubrietia plants

Hi, 

I planted two Aubrieta plants in a new rockery bed last Autumn. They flowered really well in early spring but were out growing the bed slightly and they became very top heavy. I read online that you can cut them back relatively hard to maintain the size and stop them taking over the bed, so I did. They were thriving, but it has been over a month now and no new growth plus alot of the stems are really brittle and dry. Though the leaves that I left remaining are still green so I'm slightly confused. If anyone has any imput I'd really appreciate it, thanks.image

    I've done the same thing in the past, and they didn't usually bounce straight back. They definitely did come back fully the following spring though. What I did was gather the plant together and shear the whole lot leaving about 4" of stems.

    All you can do is wait and see. They are tough plants. Cutting back after flowering is recommended though (I've never got round to it image) so chances are it'll be OK.

    Thanks for your replies. I feel more certain now that they probably will rejuvenate next year, hopefully. If they do ill definitely not be so scissor happy with them next time ??
