Magnolia tree disease
Hi, could anyone help me find out what is happening to my evergreen magnolia tree. It is about 20 years old and 15ft high. One branch has been slowly dying back over the past 3 years and last summer a black liquid started to come out of the bark by a branch joint and drip down the tree. There is now a hole where the liquid came out and it is full of wood lice, as seen in pictures. When I cut the branch off I noticed there is a black mark running through the branch as seen in pictures. It's a lovely tree and I would like to save it but it looks like this black mark is running further back into the tree. Parts of the other branches look healthy. Any ideas would be very appreciated.

It could be Honey Fungus. I have a magnolia, half of which was killed by honey fungus but half continues to survive. There is no cure for honey fungus. To give the remaining branch the best chance give the tree a good feed and water.
Hi, thank you muddyfork, I was hoping it wasn't that but I will feed and water and hope to save what's left. Kind regards.
