What's wrong with my roses?
Can someone please tell me what's wrong with my roses? The blooms turn brown even before the buds have opened...they are well watered, mulched, fed and in plenty of sunshine. I live in the tropics.

It looks like rain causing the outer petals to stick together and go brown. It is called balling. Cut the balled heads off to the next bud and they should reflower.
Another option, and worth a try, but it doesn't always work with every single rose. Try to peel off the outer layers of the rose bud, or push the outer petals down towards the stems. Sometimes, it helps to open the bud because it has been compacted by the rain.
Thank you all. These roses were imported from Holland (recently) and we are currently in the monsoon season so perhaps the change in weather plus the excess rain caused it. A couple of the rose plants are suffering from this so I will cut off the heads off one plant and peel the outer layers of the buds off the other and see which works. Thanks again.
