Best way to level a sloped garden
Hi. When I first moved into my flat the garden was full of bramble and raspberry canes. I've spent the past couple of years getting rid of them without having to use any chemicals and, now that the interior of the flat is done, I'm ready to start landscaping. The garden's around 100ft square but slopes down a few feet and is very uneven. I have temporarily covered it with a membrane to stop anything growing and, as I'm disabled, am planning to have a couple of tiered borders, a small wildlife area and gravel the rest so that a) I won't have to be worry about it being perfectly level and b) to make the upkeep easier for me. I have it all planned out but am now wondering where to start with levelling the top and bottom before putting in the tiered beds. Would it be worth hiring a rotavator or is the garden too small for that?

A rotavator will only turn the soil over, it will not help with levelling the soil. You need to put the retaining walls in first then use the cut and fill method to level the tiers.. Are your measurements correct ? is it 100ft by 100ft? If so, a couple of foot of a drop over a 100ft can easily by lost just by a very gentle slope and no tiers. In which case you could use a rotvator to turn it over and then rake is level -ish.
