Ribes cake slice problem!

Hello, I hope someone can help me with my disfigured ribes...looks like something has taken a slice and eaten it. Any ideas how to deal with it and what may have caused it?

No idea about the cause unless they're all on one stem which has been damaged somehow but I would trim off all the dead bits, give it a good soaking at the roots and a handful of pelleted chicken manure or blood, fish and bone, worked in around the roots to help it recover.
