young weeping beech losing leaves

Hello

I wonder if somebody could advise me please.

Last year we planted two beautiful weeping beech approx 2.0M tall planted.

The purple tree is thriving and in rude health however the copper specimen is well on the way to loosing all leaves. You only have to touch them and they fall to the ground.

Most of the leaves appear to be dead, curling and brown and 'crispy', although there are still some stems with seemingly healthy leaves.

I have checked for aphids/spotting but there is nothing obvious.

(We are located in a village outside Northampton)

Look forward to hearing

Rgds, George

Has it been regularly and copiously watered?  The spring and early summer were very dry.

I would have been giving it at least a bucket full of water at least three times a week since early March.
