White slugs on lawn?

Hello
would anyone be able to advise on these slugs that are appearing on my lawn?
what are they? Do they cause damage? Can I get rid of them?

Will not cause any harm unless they make their way to your plants. The blackbirds will have them for dinner. I remember we literally had thousands last May.
