Tomatoes - blossom end rot

AngieRAngieR Posts: 347

I discover today that a couple of my tomato fruits are suffering from blossom end rot.  I am reading that irregular feeding and lack of calcium is the cause.

My plants are regularly watered and fed - is there anything else I can do?  I have removed the 3 affected fruits.  All from the same plant, Alicante I think the name is.

    Hi Angie
I've only had it happen once and like you as far as I know I'd kept them watered etc.
The main thing is that it's only terminal for the tomatoes affected and new fruits forming should be ok.
It's probably got something to do with the weather I would think this year.
As usual I'll suggest a seaweed extract drench every week or 2 - that'll give them a good tonic. It has just about all the trace minerals (inc. Calcium) that plants need
This time of year I'm feeding every 5 days and a seaweed drench every 10 - that's in the g/house

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
