Tree transplant

I had a couple of palms in my garden which died after a bad winter. I cut them down thinking that would be the end of them but they have both multiplied back from the original roots! My question is can I transplant the smaller ones away to plant elsewhere without damaging the bigger plants. See picsimageimageimage

    Thanks. Im a novice gardener and was hoping someone could give me some advice. How much root would you need to take, when best to do it etc.
