Help just moved in
Hi i have just moved into my new home and the garden was about 2 ft tall overgrown grass and weeds, so i strimmed and mowed the grass and it looked ok however 3 weeks later it looks like a type of weed has spread. Does anyone know what it is and the best way to control it. Many thanks

If you are keeping this as a lawn, it might be best just to keep mowing the grass until it's cooler. When there has been a bit of rain, spike the lawn using a fork and get some lawn sand and brush that into the grass using a stiff broom. The lawn needs to be rejuvinated and looks very compacted. There are numerous products that weed & feed the lawns that are simply broadcast into the lawn and then watered in, but it's best to wait till when autumn arrives as it's too dry in the summer time.
For now, take time to rake up really well for any dead grass before you cut the grass, this will lift any creeping weeds and also raise dead thatch.
Agree, easiest is to keep mowing for now. Look up "Colt's foot" and "Winter heliotrope" to try and identify the large leaved weed. I can't zoom in enough on your photo to positively identify it.
Try just pulling the weeds out.
Thank you everyone hopefully with a bit of time and all your helpful tips it will turn out nice.
