Cosmos in pots

peteSpeteS Posts: 966

Has anyone grown Cosmos bipinnatus in a pot. I've read that they can grow to about 36inches. I have a number of 10" pots I could plant them in. Many thanks.

Do they tend to grow shorter in a pot than in open ground.

I think it depends more on the variety. You can get tall ones and short ones.

Pinching out will make them bushy. I have found that the shorter varieties seem to flower earlier.

I noticed that too B3. Cosmos Xanthos started flowering about 3 weeks ago and now cosmos purity and versailles tetra are catching up. I'm very dissapointed with Cosmos Cosimo collarette though. It's like they are trying to flower but they are tiny and look half shrivelled. The other 3 i will definitely keep growing though.

I find that the white ones often have small, disappointing flowers - but not always.
