Mulching a pieris

Hi
Ive recently cut back a Pieris that had become very woody and extremely overgrown in the hope that it can "start again?". Reading round I've found it needs mulching and what it commonly mentioned is well rotted pine needles! Is this a term for something I can buy at the garden centre in a box under another name or am I to go foraging for pine needles? Please help!

Well-rotted pine needles are exactly that.
As far as I'm aware, you cannot buy pine needles for mulching - I've collect them myself from my uncle's woodland to mulch around my acid-lovers.
Alternatively, you could use composted bark, which is another acidic mulch, and will be available to buy at the garden centre.

try ericaceous compost, its naturally acidic like pine needles but without the back breaking collecting!
remember when mulching don't pile it up around the stem/trunk as it can cause it to rot.
