Definitely a Phormium. Could be a plain form of P. cookianum or P. tenax ( more common) You have done well, getting it to flowering size in three years.
Thank you everyone, we were driving down a country lane in Bude and saw it on the verge. It was seeding so we took four and two grew into super plants. Tried to find out what it was with no answers so thought we would ask the professionals!. Already have the family wanting seeds.

I think it is a Phormium cookianum, New Zealand Flax.
which plant are you asking about? It's a phormium in front.
My limited knowledge of such plants suggests a cordyline at the bacl
In the sticks near Peterborough
