Lilac going brown

Hello , can anyone help with advice on my young  lilac  which hasnt yet flowered. Over past few weeks the leaves parts of the leaf are turning brown . Cant see any obvious insects on underside. Have attached a couple of photos. All advice gratefully received!

    When you say 'young lilac' ; does that mean a recently purchased plant ; if that IS the case , keep it well watered for the first year at least .

    Mine are doing the same, I wasn't sure if it was leaf miner or where the cats have pissed up them.

    Could also be a result of that infernal heat we experienced recently !

    Thanks, am in central Scotland so it didnt get that hot here. Plant was bought 2 years ago and did the same last year but not on all leaves which I' d have thought wouldnt indicate lack of water?No cats here either.What is leaf miner?
