Interesting hen and chickens marigold
in Plants
just thought I'd share this.
had it many years ago and this one has suddenly popped up.
quite ugly - but interesting with all the little side flowers clustered around the main flower head.
is it likely to come true if I save the seed this time instead of deadheading??

It looks like fasciation which is usually caused by environmental damage (eg insects, a virus, UV light) at an earlier stage in its development in which case it won't get passed on to the next generation. If all of the flowers on that plant are similar it will be a genetic variation and may be passed on to some of the seeds.
OK - thanks. I thought I might save some seed from the tiny little "chickens" and see what comes up.
Nothing ventured nothing lost!
