Can you help?
I wondered if anyone out there can help me please.
I have just been involved in our local "open gardens" weekend.
The star of my garden was a plant i bought at an exotic plant sale 3 years ago, simply labelled as "Shrub Oak"
It is currently about 2 feet tall, the leaves are oak leaf shape, but are up to 12 inches long, the leaves turn brown in the autumn, but it keeps them until spring before growing a new set.
I have been trying to find out more about it, but without the Latin name i have failed. So if anyone could help i would be grateful.

Quercus ilicifolia
Could it be this? It's common name is scrub oak.
how about a photo?
In the sticks near Peterborough
Those leaves look remarkably like those of Hydrangea quercifolia to me.
Quercus bicolor (Swamp-Oak) looks very similar to this .
