Water Butts and Solvent Weld 90° bends

Morning everyone...I'm going to adjust the angle of entry of the pipes that feed the water butts on the greenhouse, so rather than pay £3 each for a specific 90° bend, can I use a Solvent Weld 90° bend which costs about 89p?

Or, will the Solvent Weld possibly contaminate the water in the butt?

I have heard of people using this type of pipework in their Koi ponds, but I'd just like to sure before going ahead and being a Cheapskate image

Thanks for the advice, DR...looks like a trip to the plumbers merchant is on the cards.

Hi Zenjeff, the down pipe is just standard 36mm non solvent weld.

I now think push fit is the way to go, takes away any concerns re the solvent.

    Cheers guys image
