Blackthorn
I've got a mature blackthorn hedge which is rampant. It is against a livestock fence which borders the neighbouring farmers field and its about 30 meters long. It sends suckers up everywhere and I've had enough. What does anyone think my chances would be to kill it off and use it as a framework to grow climbers up? I can be very persistent when required.

My money's on the blackthorn ............... you don't know the meaning of 'persistent' until you've tried to beat a blackthorn

Don't kill it off , invest in a Stihl KM-130 or equivalent 'long-reach' hedge cutter ; this will seriously get it under control !!
