Hi there all,
I saw this plant in a friends garden in Cornwall. It has pink flowers which turn to black berries or seed pods after flowering. She has no clue what it is and I can't find it on the internet. Any ideas?
Phytolacca americana aka Pokeweed.
The berries are reputedly toxic, but I believe the leaves are a traditional food plant of indigenous Americans.
I don't think I'll try eating it ... I'd be bound to prepare it wrong or eat
the wrong bit or something

Easy to raise from seed should you ever lose the parent plant ; I have the pure white-flowered form .

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
