    Cathy Paget. I think  you were really unlucky to pick a holiday week that turned out freakishly hot.

    Anybody!

    Would it ever  help to cut back very drought affected foliage so that the remaining  parts of the plant stands a better chance of rehydrating.I don't think that gels are particularly useful I have tried them in the past.

    Last couple of years I have asked a neighbour to water mine a couple of times a week depending on the weather and "paid" her by letting her eat the tomatoes as they ripen.

    I bought some totally frizzed up Astlibe from the "dead heap"  trolley of a GC last year and it has been lovely this year.

    It is always worth a try to see if a plant can be restored.
