Plants for a raised bed on decking

bronmcbronmc Posts: 2

Hi I am new to this forum and was hopefully looking for some ideas for plants to put into the raised beds we are building on our new decking.

I am looking for a selection of plants/small shrubs that are evergreen but will also give a little colour with flowers or leaves.

The two beds will be quite large - approx. 5 metres in length by 1/2 metre wide and the depth can be as big as we need it to be for small plants.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated, as we are going around in circles thinking of ideas :)

Thank you

Sorry I forgot to say that our garden is South facing and the decking has full sun from noon until sunset.

    Thank you

You need to sort out what plants you like. We could give you hundreds of suggestions but you are better either looking in other folks gardens or going to your local garden centre and having a look there. You need to know how tall you want the plants to be, whether it is sunny or shady etc. I assume you will be filling the beds with topsoil? as some plants do better in some soils than others. Once you have an idea of what plants you will grow, you then will be able to decide the depth of the beds.
