School sent home a plant

she11ey55she11ey55 Posts: 8

Hi all,

Hoping I can beg your kindness for some help for a complete newbie!

One of my kids came home from school with this plant in a little cardboard pot.

I replanted it and it has grown massively. I'm hoping that someone more knowledgeable will be able to tell me what it is?  Advice on how to look after it would also be appreciated as I have noticed the tips have turned a little brown.

Thanks in advance

Try resizing the image as there's a size limit to what will upload.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Perfect, got it now, thank you

  • It a bit of a guess but it looks like it could be a crocosmia,

Thank you for the suggestion! I googled it and the leaves certainly seem to match the description, I'll try to get a better picture of them

I think Crocosmia is a good shout, especially given that it'll likely be flowering in a few weeks

  • Yes, Crocosmia.  If it gets really tall and flowers bright red it will most probably be Lucifer but there are several much shorter varieties in shades from yellow, through orange to red.

I see the photo glitch is back.  Hope the techies fix it before they disappear for the weekend..
