Pot Stand Quandary

Hi - I need to find some outdoor pot stands (or something that'll work as a pot stand) that don't have wheels but will still raise the pot at least 1cm off the ground, ideally a little more.  I thought about buying cast iron trivets, but none are quite wide enough, and I don't want to use pot feet.  Any suggestions (or even any brands where it's easy to jemmy the wheels off!).  Thanks :)

Maybe a little more :)  It just needs some air under the pot

Just get someone to cut some wooden blocks ... bits sawn off the end of some 2 x 4 would suit ... three blocks per pot.

They'll cut them for you in B&Q and similar places.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't want feet - I need something like a large trivet - plenty of holes in the design for drainage, just with no wheels so it won't move.   A large solid rubber o-ring would also do, but I can't find one large enough.   Cheers

For whatever reason you seem determined to spend a lot of money when you can do the job yourself for pennies.  I understand not wanting feet, in part due to instability, but short pieces of 2" x 1" timber can be laid to form a circle of whatever diameter you need under the pots and will be completely stable.  There will also be small gaps to allow excess water to drain away, something you wouldn't have with a solid O ring if it's on a hard surface.

  • Paviors laid in a circle?

I have some of these from poundland. Pretty basic but cheap and do the job

  • Buy a plant pot base, (plastic, ceramic, what ever will look good with your pot). Fill it with ball bearings or marbles, (the aesthetics are up to you). It’s important that what you fill it with is round to ensure good drainage. Now just stand your pot on top. Water will be able to drain from your plant pot and if the base gets totally filled with water it will just spill over on to the patio or grass. Try to make sure your plant pot has lots of drainage holes because the recommended solution I’ve given won’t be as free draining as standing on a trivet!
