Plant ID, Please

I was given this clematis some years ago but I have no idea what's called.

The first photograph was taken in full sunshine; the second, early in the morning, before the sun got to that part of the garden.

I would be grateful for any help anybody could give.

Not 100% sure , but most likely one of the C.jackmanii cultivars ; there are numerous forms so a positive ID probably best left to a 'Clematophile' !!

  • Thank you, Paul.  Let's hope "Clematophile" looks in!

It looks a bit like Clematis viticella 'Polish Spirit' ... which is a gorgeous clematis ......... but I'm no authority ........... hopefully Richard will come along soon ............

Good luck Dd. You'll get there in the end!

    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Thank you, Dove.  I just googled it and I'm almost convinced you're right.  However, mine isn't fast growing, flowers from the end of May and grows to about 6-7 feet.  Perhaps it's an idiosyncratic Spirit!

  • Thank you, B3.  I need it!
