Plant water sprays and Gardeners World

Killing two birds with one stone here.

Firstly - our newspaper is advertising GW on t.v. tonight instead of it's usual Friday slot - is the paper wrong or has the programme changed nights?

I have gone through three of the cheap hand held water sprays now, the type where you pump the nozzle for the water to gently spray out to cool plants and leaves.  They don't last very long - I must be too heavy handed.  These sprays cost just one or two pounds each and last me a few weeks or months and then just stop pumping up the water to spray out.  What would you recommend for me to use?  I water the plants in the morning and again in the evening with a watering can, but they like to have a midday spray mist of water to prevent the leaves from wilting.  (I am talking about the plants in the greenhouse where it is well over 100 degrees.)

  • My husband washes out the sprayers from the shower cleaner that we use and they seem to work well. They don't last long but we have a regular supply so that doesn't matter.

I've got a 5L spray that i've used regularly for years. Fill it up with whatever, give it a few pumps and spray away, you have to keep re-pumping of course but it has an adjustable nozzle and a lock so the spray stays on without pressing anything.

     Snap!

But we do our own; we don't expect your husband to do ours too image

GW is on tonight because of Glastonbury coverage tomorrow I think.image

  • Yes, we will all be coming around to your place singing gardener - your husband obviously has the magic touch!  I will give mine a good clean in the shower - see if it revives after that - I know I certainly will.....

Ah yes Glastonbury - I had forgotten that was on this weekend - so does that mean the usual wet weather there then?

Thanks for all your input - I really must be more gentle in future or follow Pete8's link.  I have never heard of a Kingfisher manufacturer before - is that the same as the sprayer that you use Pete?

Yes it's the same GD - works ok for me and much easier than the hand-gun's if there's a lot to do

  • I think I will try the washing the sprayers out idea first - since I have three now that don't want to work for me - if I have no joy with cleaning/washing them out then I will look into the idea of buying something more substantial at Amazon.
