Paint the beachhut black, we just did the grankids playhouse, with Cuprinol Shades am amazed at the coverage, for a water based product, a little pot goes a long way, cost you about a tenner, get rid of the lifebuoy, yes a pergola for shade, ambiance, and to climb plants up.Got the rhodos in Aldi and some plastic pots not my ideal but I couldnt afford large glazed ones, and as you say you want to be able to move them. You could stain the decking black, easy enough to change, we did the grandkids house pale blue over dark red, covered really well if you change your mind/theme.  Couple of large boulders, place near hostas groups of 3 or 5.

Yes, the pots are great I think they were around a tenner, but they are really big, I have a fig and pear tree in a couple.  I thought you said "on a budget" not blown the budget, those trees are REALLY expensive!!

Yep, trees really expensive hence no budget left! Well worth it though!

Black is a great idea for the hut, maybe some japanese writing on it (our names). The decking is black composite so wont need staining.

Ive got some stone gargoyles too. There's loads I dont need to buy!

Looking at furniture as well, traditional low tatami seating has been discounted for rattan stacking bistro set but they are around £200.

Great space. Those Willows are awesome! Not sure re Quince in a pot... think the Japanese ones prefer in the ground, and even like a wall to scramble against.

Love the beach hut - you could go black, dark green or even red and accessorise with lanterns (you can get lantern 'fairy lights') etc.

As for the hot-tub... do we all get an invite to the opening party??

Winter greenery... how about some clump-forming bamboo, a dwarf conife/pine/juniper or evergreen grasses.

bOH not keen on screening backdrop or pergola but will work on him, when he's less busy.

Yes, of course, hot tub open for fellow gardeners!!!

Seen a bamboo in local garden centre called Fargesia rufa, or far geisha murielliae, what do you think? in a pot of course.

So for now, this is all the plants Ive got, but no room for seating!

    Pic to follow...
