Sunflowers

Can anyone help?

The sunflowers were doing fine but now they have closed up and look like they are dying.

  • Perhaps the flowers have been pollinated and the heads are going into seed production mode. May be worth dead-heading some (or all) of the closed blooms as new flowers will be produced.

It doesn't look like insect damage and as it's still very early in the growing season, the foliage looks healthy enough to produce more flowers.

  • Hi Dave,

Thanks for the response. Checked everywhere on the net and couldn't find an answer so I've uprooted them and binned them.

I've replanted some petunias in their place.  I'll know better next time. I thought it must be either disease or insect as they've been potted and we'll watered since I got them less than a month ago.

    Never mind, onwards and upwards

    Cheers

    Chris :-)
