Re-Potting Succulents
last year I inherited a Crassula Ovoid 'Jade plant' and a Schlumbergera 'Easter cactus' from my late Mum.
They desperately need repotting as they've been in the same soil for at least 3 years.
Im not sure what to use though, would John Innes No3 be too strong for them ? Also I'm not sure if ordinary houseplant compost would suit, even though it's very light and the Crassula especially is very heavy.
thanks for your help as always.

JI3 with an equal volume of added sand and/or grit would be ideal.
Silly question time now ! What sort of sand ? I've got some kiln-dried left over after having the drive power washes & re-sanded, would that do ? Thanks.
I would use horticultural sand/grit. Your sand might be okay but I would want to know what is in it - it might have added chemicals to prevent weed growth, or something else that is undesirable.
And it will not be sharp sand - I think the kiln dried stuff for driveways is very fine. You need sharp sand or fine grit.
Thanks everyone, makes perfect sense. Xx
