Is this a codyline?

imageimagehi I had my garden redesigned around 3 years ago and recently this plant just grew lots of shoots - I'm trying to understand what to do with it but don't want to research the wrong plant

    there are very tall (8-10 feet) dark purple/black shoots with buds on them.   very strange looking - hope they flower  so I can compare to pics online

    The dark purple/black shoots sound like Cordyline australis or one of its cultivars ; I always think the flowers are an anti-climax (dullish greyish white) . You would expect something a bit more spectacular from plants as architectural as they are .
