Could be Stinkhorn Fungus, I always know when one of those has popped up in the garden.
I sat and watched one grow once, amazing things.
Are you one of those people who genuinely appreciate mosses , lichens ,liverworts & fungi ; to me they're all part of a garden ecosystem .
