Caring for growing black currant plant and buying more
Hi
i bought a 'Big Ben' black currant plant in June last year, and transferred it to a bigger pot, packed with horse manure, and water it sometimes. It's producing fruit and seems to be doing well (see picture).
I wondered - how should I prune it this year? I've read that you should cut the wooden bits as they won't produce as much fruit, but I'm not sure I have any wooden bits yet.
Also, is it big enough to be transferred out of its pot and into the ground? (The pot it's in is pretty big). Also should I put down some kind of fertiliser on it?
Finally has anyone grown a 'Ben hope' plant and where is good to buy one from? I like the Big Ben fruit, but I'd like to plant something a bit more tart next time.
many thanks
William

This should help you with the pruning. http://www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/grow-plants/pruning-blackcurrants/
And this has advice on growing blackcurrents. https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/grow-your-own/fruit/blackcurrants
If your plant is producing fruit then I'm guessing it is a reasonable size and can probably be planted out but as the picture facility isn't working today, I could be wrong.
