Tomato blossom end rot
Out of 12 tomato plants, only 2 which are side by side have developed this annoying problem. One is Black Russian and the other Brutus. I have read on the forum ways to try to overcome for future fruits, but as the only two affected are together, is this due to some kind of adverse condition in that spot, or can it spread plant to plant please?

Some varieties seem more prone to it than others ... it's a reaction to inconsistent amounts of watering ... I find it best to allow the compost to dry out and then give it a really good soak, as advocated by Italophile on this forum a few years back.
I only water when the leaves begin to flag - I sometimes only water my toms twice a week.
I have over 20 outdoor tomato plants in pots most years and only rarely are any fruit affected by BER.
It's not something that will spread from plant to plant.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thankyou for that. I normally only water once or twice a week but at the moment I find them drooping every day in the greenhouse, even with shade netting up.
