Hi Marlorena. Thanks, well yes I was thinking that just cut of the buds. I am very upset about this all, need to pull myself together!! How could I even do this? Even when I replanted it, I actually don't think I buried the rootball enough. But I won't disturb it again. Have not killed it then? Is there a chance it will settle down and produce more buds this summer? Won't that be too much water, I may flood it, or is that okay?
wakeshine... at this time of year you simply cannot give a rose too much water... especially given the heat we've had lately, I presume you've had this too...
The latest thinking regarding moving a rose, is not to cut it back too much, it needs those leaves and cane growth, otherwise there is a risk if you cut it back further, it could die back to the base. It is likely that the rose will start to shoot out again from near the top of those canes, once it has recovered... then you can prune to where it's shooting out but you need to wait for that...
This is really nothing to worry about, providing you keep up with the watering, and no food, it doesn't require food at this point.. yes I feel confident you will have more blooms after 6 weeks or so...

Thanks Marlorena, I'll try this. I hope the roots establish again. Next time i won't move any roses until the dormant period.
