Shrub ID

GraysGrays Posts: 172

Hi all,

Could someone identify this shrub please?

A couple of weeks ago it was covered in tiny white/silver flowers, upon close inspection now it seems they have changed to a red colour?

When would be a good time to give it a trim?

Thanks.imageimage

    It's an escallionia.

Now's the time to prune/trim. It's quite a small leaved one so it should be easy to keep neat and tidy.

Cotoneaster ; don't trim too deeply or you may lose any display of berries later on .

i like to see shrubs growing in a more natural shape rather than being given a shave all round and making a blob

The red things might be berries

  • Cotoneaster, the hover bees love it. Don't trim unless you have to the berries are very pretty.

    See original post

the red things will be berries if they're not chopped off
