Dead tree overhanging neighbour.

I HAVE A DEAD 20FT HIGH TREE. Part is overhanging a neighbour (branches up to 3" diam.). Can I leave it? I am 77 and can't fix it. Can he make me remove the overhang?

Whatever you do Jonny it is always best to try and achieve an amicable solution. I don't believe that, by law, he can make you remove the overhang, however, assuming you are not worried about it then let him know he is free to cut it as appropriate.

Depending on the size of the tree you may want to think about the long-term i.e. if it were to eventually fall and cause damage to yours or your neighbours property.

anything overhanging the boundary your neighbour can remove,

however if the tree is dead its going to fall over eventually on its own, so it might be better to pay a professional in to remove it, because if it falls over on its own Murphy's law states it will land on the most expensive thing in yours or your neighbours garden.

And the most expensive thing of all would be if it fell on the neighbour or one of the family!

20 foot is not tall by tree surgeons standards

I watched 2 lads remove a 50 foot Ash tree in about 4 hours which was impressive

? Will you sleep easier at night knowing its gone

If yes get it gone this month

I had a flowering cherry  (one of the tall thin ones) at the end of my driveway near the footpath that had to go. It was about 20ft high.
The company I use for such things locally removed it and treated the stump - £45 all-in
