How do I save a thread?

Hi, could anyone tell me how I can save a thread that someone has posted that I am interested in please? Years ago I just gave it a 'bump'. Is it the still the same or is there a new way to do it? many thanks

  • You can click on "Follow" at the top of the thread. You can also bookmark it with your browser.

  • Are trying to save the wordage within the thread or are you trying to make sure a thread is always at the top, bumping is very much frowned on and is not good practice.

To save the text just copy and paste the wordage into a word processor and "save as"

Thanks for replies. I was hoping to save something for future reference and I know that when we used to bump, it would then appear on 'my messages' . I am not very computer literate so I would appreciate it if someone could spell it out for me in easy steps. Apologies, but I don't know what bookmarks or browsers are. image

  • A browser is the programme that you are using now to surf the internet.

Click on the link below. It tells you how to bookmark (or favourite) a page on the internet:

If you can find the thread go to it.

Hold down the right button on your mouse. You will see an option that says Save As...

Click that then choose save. Make a note of where you save it so you know where to look when you want to refer to it

If you've posted on the thread, all you need to do is click on your name in the top right hand corner of the main page and then click on My Posts ... it'll be in there and you can access the whole thread from that.

Thanks everyone for replies i will try and follow steps as advised.

Dove, thanks also, I realised that when I was part of a thread It would appear on my posts, I just didn't know how to keep one that was interesting and informative that I wasn't part of.

In that case, I'm sure it's fine just to post 'Snagging' or something similar so that it will appear on your My Posts.  image

It's acceptable on most forums and I really can't imagine anyone here objecting image
