Pruning

There seem to be different approaches to pruning a fig tree grown in a container. What is the correct way please?

I follow the RHS advice which is

"Containerised figs: In late March, cut out dead stems and weak branches before growth starts. Mid June: remove the shoot tips from the new growth, leaving four to five leaves."

Thank you for that advise. Perhaps I took the tips out too soon and that is why I have plenty of fruit but only half a dozen leaves. The fruit seems to be doing well so far. I will get going with the tomato fertiliser though.

I find that figs need lots of water in order to produce leaves.

I shall add that advice to my list. Thanks.
