Spider question

You know those big spotty spiders you see all over the garden this time of year. I've noticed that some are large and some are huge.

Are the huge ones a few years old, well-fed or a different species?

In London. Keen but lazy.

Hi B3. The big ones with the beautiful markings are the mature garden spiders with various different sizes in between. Here they are just after they hatch out:

Yes. They're lovely. We have spiderlings too in the spring.

Do they survive for a few years and keep growing?

I absolutely love them. They probably get predated but many will grow to full size. The mother spider looks after the egg sac and cannot hunt so eventually dies and the spiderlings hatch out in late Spring. Sadly they only live one year.

Wow Nut! I love the Napoleon spider.

I've noticed the garden spider which was the one I was asking about  but also saw that there's one called the garden centre spider - strangeimage
