Well, I can’t compete with mustelids, but I’m reading in bed while a score or so billywitches are hammering on the window … the bats will be along in a minute …

They must have quite a crunch to them.

The wildlife highlights of my day were discovery that foxes drink from the little solar fountain in my front garden, and watching a lady blackbird having a bath in my micro-pond at the back - plashing and splashing like she was in a water park.

Last night I filled the pond to the brim. I came out this morning and found the pond nearly empty, to my surprise, so wondered if legions of foxes, birds and ... mustelids might have been drinking from it over night. Or maybe they just shared a Roman-style bath and displaced all the water. It's good to see it's being used.

@Fire yes our blackbirds really go for it in the birdbath too, proper lido session, and usually three or four times with preening and scratching in-between. Better than telly!

Just make sure you have some plants underneath/beside  @Fire and the blackbirds will water them for you. 😁

How gorgeous. What goes on in our gardens while we are asleep.   When it snowed, we didn't wake up to pristine flat snow. It looked like someone had  had a rave in the garden.    Now with the trailcam , we see more at night than  in the day sometimes.  Last night we got a full house.
