My forum name came about because densely I didn’t realise it was going to be seen by anyone, just thought it was a log in thingy. It was just my initials and then after realising I added Jacqui to make it more personal. Now though I am going to change it (I hope) to Dordogne Damsel so I don’t have to explain my French location every time I ask a question – which is often because this huge garden I have just moved into has a whole pile of stuff going on I haven’t a clue about. Loving gardening, loving and extremely grateful for the forum posts, not too many people around here to chat/pick brains of, only ever done raised veggie beds and container gardening before so all these shrubs/perennials are a mystery to me. I did actually join an ex-pat gardening group yesterday and a few of them were familiar with the forum. Made a mental note to myself to be a little circumspect in the future, bearing in mind what The Grateful Deadhead had to say earlier in the week. They all seemed very nice though and certainly enthusiastic about gardening, full of advice about this particular climate and I am sure I would never have cause to complain about any of them – honest! Also very conscious that the previous owners (who were fantastic gardeners) might be seeing pics and thing "OMG What has she done?" Anyway, going to try and do that technical thing of changing name now - might be some time before I am back as Dordogne Damsel, did consider French Maid (I have some letting rooms here) but was concerned about causing too much of a stir - have seen some of the not quite politically correct male comments on here!

I am so not suited to being a gardener, have serious hay fever, extremely sensitive skin and a bad back - but I won't be beaten, I don't care I love it so much. I just go out there armed with huge box of tissues and very long gloves - glass (or two) of red wine sorts the back out at the end of a long day nicely too! Noticed someone abbreviated my name to DD earlier, could equally stand for Dew Drop

I see Dove has found this thread again. I answered in March last year, this - "I'm Busy-Lizzie because I'm Liz and there is always so much to do in the garden and I never seem to have time to get round to doing it all! Shame Busy-Lizzies have got stricken by a fungus - but mine were fine last year"
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I've found this thread again - I thought it'd be nice to bump it up again.
We can remember old friends, past and present, and new forum friends can read how we came to have the monikers that we do, and tell us how they decided what to call themselves.

Great to see this thread back
There may have been some not quite pc male comments occasionally Dordogne Damsel, but we soon sort them out with a good
