Artjak, my sisyrinchium always has a burnt look after flowering too. And it won't stay where I planted it. I now have a few as it seems to seed itself, but they aren't where I wanted them.
How maddening about the farmer, and dangerous. Have you told him of the damage?
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I have a sisychrinum in apot - bought from other house and can never decide where to put it. It's now in danger of bursting the pot. Are you saying it won't stand splitting?
Artjak perhaps it will make a difference the way you approach the farmer, do you know his name if not find out and go and see him/her before you start the expensive soliciter route no winnners then, none of the farmers around me would deliberately go round making enemies
Lovely pix Singy - every time I try to get a pic of something it's gone by the time I get the camera! That's a lovely foxglove - what variety is it - do you know?
Art we had a very 'awkward' farmer next to us at last house. He could have made life difficult if you got on the wrong side of him. He had issues with a resident further up the road and was always squabbling with her. We just kept a distance and were always pleasant to avoid any nonsense, so I understand your problem. Not an easy one to resolve satisfactorily
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Winter s, perhaps, since the farmer sprayed the back field on May 1st and damaged a lot of my plants I should have a 'dying' area of the garden.

I think I am going to have to send a solicitors letter; neighbours tell me that speaking to him won't work
I would not be happy at that Art.

Oh artjak, that's terrible. I would definitely make a complaint.
I think you should artjak. There's a lot of damage and even if all you achieved was to stop it happening again it would be good.
In the sticks near Peterborough
Thank you all for your advice, I shall now ponder
