Been catching up, great pictures everyone. Deano, your veg beds are fabulous, I love how they're so neat. And all the iris pictures are beautiful, folks. I don't have any luck with them, last year I planted out Iris from my grandad's garden, they'd been living happily in a plastic bag for 3 years, but fell foul of the grim, extended winter we had. I've now moved some iris that were growing under a climbing frame (now removed) and only one of the rhizomes is showing signs of life, so I'm pleased that there are other people's lovely pictures to look at.
Anyway, I am so happy today, finally my peonies are starting to open:
Thought I'd put on a couple of pics: My Chandos Beauty rose has flowered today. I bought it at Hampton Court FS last year. The yellow rose is one my father in law had in a pot in his garden. He hadn't kept the label so we don't know what it's called but it's one we rescued after he passed away. It hasn't done very well in the pot so we planted it out this spring using a small amount of Rootgrow + some Fish, Blood & Bone in a plentifull supply of John Innes No 3. It obviously liked that!
Before anyone states the obvious: No. he didn't get it from Texas!
Lovely tidy greenhouse too....has anyone else noticed how tidy the boys' greenhouses are? Is it 'man cave' syndrome do you think....
Lovely peony pix Daisy. Shame about your Irises. They are beautiful aren't they? You could always try the varieties which like damper conditions - sibiricas etc. Some of them are just as beautiful. I bought a lovely dark purple one last week -pix are on one of the threads (maybe this one or Marion's 'summer' one). No idea what it is, but it's very delicate and so gorgeous it doesn't matter!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Wow Daisy what a super paeony! Do you know which it is?
Irises need their tubers on the surface of the soil. When I first started growing them I killed quite a few because it didn't seem logical not to bury them. They love the weather - baking sun, wind, cold. I don't care what anybody says they have to be British through and through with that sort of an attitude.
Ah! fairygirl (& q_r) this greenhouse is new (my birthday present to myself last year and built in January this year so currently my pride & joy). It hasn't always been tidy (I refer to a previous greenhouse), I have to keep it tidy now though because at 69 in October I am not as steady on my feet as I used to be and if I leave anything out on the floor you can bet my feet will find it. You'll notice too from various pics posted that the garden is also very tidy! I can't claim credit for that though as Eileen (OH) has a very tidy mind and everything has a place and should be in it!
Joking aside, your garden looks so lovely John. It's obvious you both work very hard at keeping it neat and it must give you both a lot of pleasure. Long may it continue!

We're having some more work done outside the conservatory in a few weeks. Another stone walled raised bed to compliment the one we had done a couple of weeks ago plus replacing the whole patio because the ants have undermined the existing one so much its sunk in various places and become too much of a trip factor. When it's finished I'll put some more pics up (I'd be ashamed to show the existing mess close up!)
Daisy - love the peony too - do you know which one it is ?? John, v jealous of that lovely greenhouse. And your roses look so healthy - great flowers but also the glossy leaves

John H, why not do some 'before and after' photos of the patio?
