Willow is commonly used in Holland and aspirin comes from willow, which is why I chose it. But in Scotland, where Bushman comes from, alder or Scottish birch is used more commonly.

Dove your right, the alder was used for making clogs in years gone bye. Its also grown to help enrich the ground as like peas it forms nitrogen on its roots. Busy the alder was most commonly used as it had very few uses as it doesn't burn while the birch did. Ill try and be clearer if i ever get another go image

Which small Irish county would you plant for autumn colour?

The only Irish county that I can think of that is plantable is Cork, but Cork is a big county. Unless it's an anagram as well and I'm hopeless at anagrams.

Could be that Cork is a small name. Or, going with the anagram, isn't there a plant called Rock???

I know it as white rock - a low growing plant with white flowers. It may have been my dad's name for it as the name came from a long way back in my memory.  image
