Lyn, I don't usually plant any annual climbers out until May - have been caught out before. Thanks for the tip about the seeds - never thought about that but they are related to Nasturstiums and I can't get rid of them now image

Collect as many as I can every year but still get loads coming up. image

Good job I like them. image

  • Well, after battling the verbena and thinking they were buggered....i now have 45 seedlings lol.

I've got stuff germinating like mad. Lots of aquilegias. Once the weather perks up a bit I'll start pricking out and sowing the next round. I don't like to prick out when it's cold, they might rot instead of growing away. They're still tiny, they'll last ages yet.
My false sunflowers haven't shown yet. 4 crocuses appeared in their pot. I was a bit puzzled then I remembered putting them in there.

Potted up 10 dahlias today, sowed more French Marigolds (didn't germinate well last time, old seeds), Zinnias, asters (for cutting), and nasturtiums. All in GH and some in propogaters. Re-potted 3 echinaceas that I thought were dead but are now growing and 2 prunellas.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Might be right hollie. If they don't grow roots quickly they're in trouble. I've still got some night catchfly that germinated instantly when I sowed it in September. I thought it needed chilling, perhaps does if it's gone dormant but this was straight off the plant. Getting a bit crowded in the pot but I'm sure it will survive.

It was much warmer than this in March last year.
