I've got some I planted up before Christmas which are nice stout little things and then I intend to plant up more seeds so they are a bit behind to hopefully keep my display going on longer. Need David K to advise- he knows his Sweet Peas
I have only just started some off as recommended by a sweetpea breeder. You put the seeds on damp paper, kitchen roll, cover with cling film and wait for the root tip to appear brfore planting singly in pots. Keep the kitchen roll damp buy not soaking.
I grew nearly 500 last year for a family wedding was cancelled so thought I would give them a miss this year. However, I do love them so belately, have sown about 40 seeds. Different varieties seem to germinate at different rates. Last year I sowed the seed in the autumn and grew them on in a cold frames through the winter, strong stocky plants and early flowering. It will be interesting to see how this years effort does, last year was not a good year for sweetpeas.

They really don't like root disturbance, so I think I'd leave them together - how many are there in one pot?

Mine are all planted up today i just had enough for what i needed so pleased i got a few more to germinate also. looking forward to the display.
Ive sewn 2 seads in each pot and they all seem to be germinating well. Should I thin out the weakest plant in each pot, or leave them alone?
I planted out some of my Sweet Peas yesterday
I also tried to germinate others in the way Joyce described above on wet kitchen paper.
